Diamond For Days!

Dig till your Y reaches 12 as that is where most diamonds spawn. Dig forward and create a small tunnel which is 2 high 1 wide.
Turn to your sides and dig straight forward until you can't reach it. This will help reveal any diamonds to your sides.
Leave 2 blocks in between and dig straight forward to your side again until you can't reach it. This will help reveal any diamonds in between and the sides.
Using the same method, do it to the other side, you should have a small mining shaft like this.
In just a few minutes, DIAMONDS!
